On May 21st, dancers from the National Ballet of China gave an impressive performance that was both enjoyable and informative in the theatre of the Sports Center on Second Campus. It gave the faculty and students a great taste of ballet.

The performance given by the National Ballet of China is part of the “Art into Campus” program which is jointly held by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Finance. “Feel Classic and Improve Oneself” is the theme of the program supported by the National Ballet of China, the China National Peking Opera Company and the National Theater of China. The program aims to enrich the cultural life on campus and increase students’ artistic accomplishments.

“Ballet is more than just art, it connects and consoles people.” said the compere of the performance, LI Ning, when she was telling the story of ballet. Ballet dancers showed the basic moves and essentials through interactive teaching involving 20 members of the audience. As well as classic dances, including Swan Lake and Don Quixote the ballet dancers also performed Brave Mario and What is Heaven Like and other fashionable modern ballet dances. The Yellow River, demonstrating the national character, persistence, and the resolution to revive China, was the climax of the performance. The performance ended with much applause.
