In the 2013 International Student Conference on Environment and Sustainability from June 5 to 8, HUANG Danping, a sophomore undergraduate student from the School of Municipal and Environmental Engineering, was awarded the Green Future Prize, presented for the first time at this conference.

The conference, with the theme of Food, Health and Sustainable Development, was co-hosted by Tongji University and the United Nations Environment Program. Four hundred participants from 45 countries gathered in Shanghai, and exchanged their experiences and ideas in five areas: Food, Health, Ecosystem, Green City and Green Consumption.

The Green Future Prize, established by the Beijing Green Future Environment Foundation, aims to encourage undergraduates and postgraduates of environment related majors in Chinese universities to develop social practice, scientific innovation, as well as conduct research and write reports and papers about investigations and solutions for environmental issues.

HUANG Danping’s paper Research on Reclaimed-water Humidifier in Northern Heating Period, designed a dispersible reclaimed-water appliance with brilliant design concepts and techniques. It also provided theory and data for the mounted-mosaic humidifier. The paper, rigorous, innovative and with abundant data, was unanimously approved by experts.
