The Social Science Journal of HIT has been included as a Core Journal of Humanities and Social Science in the recently released Chinese Core Journals of Humanities and Social Sciences Handbook (2013 edition).
 
The development and selection of Chinese Core Journals of Humanities and Social Sciences is long-term research work of the CASS Bibliometrics and Science Evaluation Research Center. Each edition is released in the form of Chinese Core Journals of Humanities and Social Sciences Handbook. Its statistical data sources mainly come from three things: The Chinese Humanities and Social Sciences Citation Database, the Chinese Humanities and Social Science Abstracts database and various published journals’ statistical data and other data sources. The selection of the Chinese Core Journals of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), identified a total of 484 kinds, divided into 24 professional categories and integrated classes. The Social Science Journal of HIT was selected as a comprehensive journal.
 
In recent years The Social Science Journal of HIT has maintained academic quality and openness to society, adjusted its columns, and actively carried out thematic planning, inviting well-known scholars in various fields to write the columns. It has seen improvement in the various indexes and seen its academic influence grow. It has a good reputation in academic and periodical circles.
 
The Social Science Journal of Harbin Institute of Technology is managed by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and sponsored by Harbin Institute of Technology. It is a comprehensive academic journal of Humanities and Social Sciences. It was founded in 1999 and come out bimonthly.
