International Water Association Conference is held in HIT

October 27 to 30, the 11th IWA Conference on Small Water & Wastewater Systems and Sludge Management was held at HIT. Well-known experts and scholars from many countries including the United States, Canada, Italy, Austria and several domestic research institutions came together to discuss the present and future situation in the field and work together toward finding sustainable approaches to solve environmental issues of small water, wastewater systems and sludge management worldwide.

Professor LI Guibai and Vice President REN Nanqi, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Professor Glen Daigger, Chairman of the International Water Association (IWA) and academician of the National Academy of Engineering attended the opening ceremony and made speeches.

The developments of small cities and towns have become the future focus and trend in urbanization in developing countries. It is crucial for the construction and sustainable development of small towns to solve the problems of small water, wastewater systems and sludge management. The International Water Association is the world's major academic organization in the field of the water environment and the most authoritative international water industry association with a high reputation. This conference is the highest level of international conferences in the field of small water & wastewater systems and sludge management. The 11th IWA Conference focused on a range of small and decentralized water systems, from drinking water treatment, water quality control, sewage treatment and sludge disposal. During the four days of discussions, Vice President REN, Professor Glen Daigger, Professor QIU Jiuhui, Professor HOU Lian and other well-known experts and scholars made presentations at the conference and participated in the discussions.
