On October 25th, HIT President WANG Shuguo met with the visiting President Sergey N. Ivanchenko from the Pacific National University and his delegation. HIT Vice President REN Nanqi also participated in the meeting. They held discussions on cooperation and exchanges in the ASRTU Youth Camp in the Russian Far East under the framework of the Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities (ASRTU), in exploring the historical and cultural relationship between Harbin and the Russian Far East, and in youth magazine publication.

During the talks, President WANG spoke highly of both universities’ productive results achieved in talent training, scientific research and cultural exchanges. He said that when the Chinese and Russian heads of state met this year, they jointly announced that the two countries would mutually hold the China-Russia Youth Friendly Exchanges Year in 2014 and 2015. He hoped that the two universities could take this opportunity to vigorously promote youth cultural exchanges between each other.

President Ivanchenko said that the two universities had a long history in mutual cooperation, and HIT was the Pacific National University’s traditional partner. The two universities have conducted a series of cooperation and exchanges activities under the framework of ASRTU. He hoped that the two universities would maintain momentum in their cooperation and further strengthen research collaboration in their major disciplines.
