Clicking on the homepage of the higher education curriculum resources sharing platform iCourse (http://www.icourses.cn/home/) supported by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, you will find that there is not only the original Open Course Videos but also Resource Sharing Lessons. Clicking on the Resource Sharing Lessons and searching for “Harbin Institute of Technology”, you will discover eight lessons by HIT Professors including the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) fellow Vice President REN Nanqi, the national teaching masters professor ZHANG Shaoshi and Professor SUN Yi.
The iCourse website is the higher education curriculum resources sharing platform supported by the Undergraduate Teaching Quality and Teaching Reform Project of the Ministry of Education of People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Finance of People’s Republic of China during the 12th Five-Year Plan. With modern information technology and network techniques, the website provides quality education resources and personalized teaching resources sharing services for teachers, students and social learners. The sections “Chinese Universities Open Course Videos” and the “Chinese Universities Resources Sharing Lessons” provide services such as browsing, searching, restructuring, analyzing, importing and exporting the lessons, posting and the interaction and they combine teaching and learning. Some internet users can also chat and study online.
In the early “Open Course Video”, the hits on the courses Earthquake Disaster Alleviation and the Architecture Aseismatic Design and The Innovation Complex of Regional Architecture by the CAE fellow XIE Lili and Professor MEI Hongyuan have reached more than 4700 and 2100 respectively.
At the second anniversary of the establishment of the iCourse site, the newly-launched “Resource Sharing Lessons” section focuses on widely-covered public basic courses, specialized basic course and specialized core courses from universities and provides teachers, students and social learners with core resources through the use of modern information technology. There are basic resources including course introductions, syllabus, course agenda, teaching plan or presentation PPT, analysis of key and difficult points, assignments, reference materials to establish an appropriate online chat and study environment for the teachers and students from the school and the social learners.
From the national quality curriculum of HIT, we selected some of them and produced videos. Eight of them, Contamination Control Biology by Vice President REN Nanqi, Mechanics of Materials by Professor ZHANG Shaoshi, Theoretical Mechanics by Professor SUN Yi, Mechanical Design by the Professor SONG Baoyu, Eletronic Technology Basics by Professor WANG Shujuan, Physical Optics by Professor LV Zhiwei, C Language Programming by Professor SU Xiaohong and Accounting Information System by Professor AI Wenguo were included on the iCourse site.
