On May 17th, the first University Forum with a theme of Teaching System Reform and Talents Training Quality was held in Chongqing. President WANG Shuguo made a speech entitled Vigorously Promote Collaborative Innovation, Improve Quality of Talent Training at the forum. He also made speeches at two key middle schools in Chongqing.
More than 200 experts from over 80 universities and relevant government departments in China attended the forum. President WANG conducted in-depth exchanges with experts on how to raise the talent quality by reforming the teaching system. They have reached a number of important consensuses.
During the forum, President WANG also went to the Nankai Middle School and the Bashu Middle School in Chongqing, and gave speeches to the students. He elaborated on the enormous impact which 21st century technology development trends and technological developments have had on social progress ranging from rapid development of information technology, technological exploration in deep space, deep sea and deep earth, and the application of robotics technology in various fields. He also introduced HIT’s latest research progress in the manned space flight project, the space docking technology of Shenzhou and Tiangong, lunar exploration, space environment simulation facilities, intelligent robots, micro-satellite technology and satellite laser communications. President WANG encouraged students to become the leader among their peers and to struggle for their dreams with confidence through telling his own personal experience. He said that everyone will encounter many difficulties and obstacles, but there are no setbacks that we cannot overcome. Sticking to dreams in life and facing difficulties with a positive attitude is essential. We should be concerned about others and help others. We should take our responsibilities seriously, take the initiative in caring about the community and put our tireless effort into pursuing our careers. We should have a broad vision and the ability to understand diverse cultural communication. He hoped that students would be able to develop these qualities in learning and seek to become the leaders in various industries and useful talents for the country and society as a whole. President WANG also answered the questions of students in the areas of science and technology ethics, space technology, robotics, and the virtual economy.
Assistant President LIANG Yingchun and several leaders from the Department of Basic Education and the Recruitment and Employment Office accompanied President WANG, and participated in the forum.
