HIT students win first place in the 4th China Undergraduate Physicists’ Tournament

After five rounds of preliminaries and a final round, a HIT team won first place in the 4th China Undergraduate Physicists’ Tournament. This is the best result for a HIT team until now.

Based on the structure of the International Young Physicists’ Tournament, the China Undergraduate Physicists’ Tournament focuses on the nurture of innovative awareness and ability, team spirit and practical ability. Team confrontation is the major form of this physics competition which has gained the support of the Ministry of Education. It is one of the undergraduate innovative competitions which are part of the national long-term plan for education. With 39 teams from 38 universities including Peking University and Tsinghua University participating, the 4th China Undergraduate Physicists’ Tournament was hosted by Lanzhou University with one grand prize, three first places and twenty second places and sixteen third places.

This is the second time HIT has participated in this competition. After a selection process within HIT, HIT has formed a team with WANG Yue, a physics major, as team leader, YU Wenxiu as captain and four more team members, HAN Meng, WANG Guoxing, XIA Chun and ZHANG Yao and four coaches, ZHANG Yu, ZHAO Yuan, WANG Yuxiao and HOU Chunfeng.
