HIT and Eaton Corporation open Joint Laboratories

September 9th,the unveiling ceremony of the HIT - Eaton Electrical Laboratory, HIT - Eaton hydraulic laboratory and the HIT - Eaton Engineering Practice Education Center was held in HIT. HIT and the world's leading diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation jointly established these laboratories. Before the ceremony, Secretary of the Party Committee WANG Shuquan met with Eaton Asia Pacific President Curt Hutchins and his delegation.

Secretary WANG and President Hutchins both delivered speeches at the forum. The two sides believe that the joint laboratory construction, the establishment of scholarships, Eaton internship training and other aspects of cooperation certainly lay a good foundation for the Excellent Engineer Education Project, the Engineering Leader Education Project and the construction plans for the Innovation Training Base. Both HIT and Eaton also want to continue to strengthen the cooperation of the past five years, and continue to expand areas of cooperation in order to make greater contributions to school teaching and research development.

In the unveiling ceremony, Assistant President XU Dianguo and President Hutchins jointly cut the ribbon. XU said that the partnership will further promote the school-enterprise cooperation process between HIT with Eaton, so as to enhance the level of undergraduate innovative experiments, undergraduate integrated curriculum design and postgraduate and doctor innovative experiments. Meanwhile it will further enhance the quality of the students’ engineering practice, innovation, teamwork and project leadership. President Hutchins said with the establishment and the use of the two joint laboratories and Engineering Practice Education Center, Eaton will provide more effective support to HIT faculty and students in obtaining scientific research results in relevant fields. Eaton will help schools and the Chinese market to continue to cultivate more excellent engineering talents, and to promote the continuous improvement of China in the energy management area.

The HIT–Eaton Electrical Laboratory in the future will utilize advanced electrical equipment to help develop innovative undergraduate experiments, integrated undergraduate curriculum design and innovative postgraduate and doctoral experiments. Through school-enterprise cooperation, the laboratory will help students master the most advanced power quality, power transmission and distribution and control technology. In HIT-Eaton Hydraulic Laboratory, Eaton will provide electromagnetic steering valves, safety valves and other equipment to support the research of students and promote innovative research of hydraulic pressure. HIT - Eaton Engineering Practice Education Center mainly work on the Excellent Engineer Education Project and the Engineering Leader Education Project. It aims to offer internship and job guidance to the undergraduates and postgraduates.

In the evening at the Eaton Innovation Scholarship Award Ceremony PANG Mingshu, WANG Heyan and LI Ming from School of Electrical Engineering and Automation, MA Cong and LIU Jin from School of Mechatronic Engineering along with 13 other students received the HIT 2013 Annual Eaton innovation Scholarship. Secretary of Supervision Division CAI Jujin congratulated these students and reviewed the cooperation process between HIT and Eaton Corporation. Secretary CAI also expressed his gratitude to Eaton Corporation for providing a training platform for students, hoping that both sides can further cooperate on personnel training, scientific research and employment. He also encouraged the students to cherish their opportunities and to study hard.

President Hutchins and his delegation visited the HIT-Eaton laboratories. Internship students from Eaton shared learning and internship experiences with other students. Eaton also used microblogging to interact with students. Other activities held included a Female Career Planning Seminar.
