Habetler from the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) visited HIT and became a guest professor of HIT. The ceremony was hosted by the Vice Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering and Automation Professor ZHU Chunbo. Assistant President XU Dianguopresented the letter of appointment to Professor Habetler on behalf of HIT. Director of the International Office FAN Hongbo, Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering and Automation PENG Xiyuan, Deputy Deans of the School of Electrical Engineering and Automation WANG Shujuan and LIU Guodong, and Assistants to the Dean WANG Liguo andZHANG Qianfan also attended the ceremony.
Assistant President XU extended a warm welcome to ProfessorHabetler and thanked the Director of Eaton-China Innovation CenterDrLU Bin for his contribution to Professor Habetler’s visiting HIT and becoming HIT’s guest professor. In his speech, Assistant President XU praised highly what Professor Habetler has achieved in the field of motor control and fraud diagnosis and electronic machine design. He also expressed his desire for the further cooperation in the exchange of teachers and students and scientific research. Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering and Automation, PENG Xiyuan thanked Doctor LU Bin, alsoHIT’s adjunct professor for his assistance and support. Director of the International Office, FAN Hongbo express his hope that Georgia Tech, Eaton and HIT can work together to promote both interuniversity and university-industry cooperation. Professor Habetler said that he would be a happy to continue the collaboration with the School of Electrical Engineering and Automation in HIT.
From Aug. 9th to 11th, Professor Habetlergave several presentations about the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of Georgia Tech, the development and rules of IEEE, and the fraud diagnosis and detection of electric machine and electric machine design. He had great discussions with the teachers and students in HIT.
Professor Thomas G. Habetler, professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of Georgia Tech, fellow of IEEE, is a world leader in the area of motor control and fraud diagnosis and electric machine design. He has published over 200 technical papers, of which four articles have won the "Industrial Application Society" Outstanding Paper Award.He currently serves on theboard of directors of IEEE and editor in chief of several IEEE publications including“IEEE Power Electronics Society”. He was once the President of the IEEE Power Electronics Society, and Chair of the Industrial Power Converter Committee of the IEEE Industry Applications Society.
