Vice President REN meets North Korean Students Studying at HIT

On September 18th, Vice President REN Nanqi met with twelve North Korean students and Postdoctoral students who will study at HIT. This is the first group of North Korean students at HIT since the founding of New China.

There are nine students including five young teachers from Kim Il-sung University and four young teachers studying for a PhD from Kim Chaek University of Technology and three teachers from Kim Il-sung University who will do postdoctoral research at HIT.

Vice President REN said that Kim Il-sung University and Kim Chaek University of Technology had sent their best young teachers to our university and hoped they would have an enjoyable time in our university and achieve excellent results. He also introduced the history of cooperation between our school and North Korea, including the former Premier of the Government Administration Council LI Zhongyu who graduated in 1940 and other North Korean graduates in the 1930s. Representatives of North Korean students thanked our university for the arrangements made for their lives and study. They hoped to work hard and make progress together.

In 1988 and 2011 respectively, our university signed friendship and cooperation agreements between HIT and Kim Chaek University of Technology and Kim Il-sung University.
