President of Chiba Institute of Technology Visits HIT

October 20th, President WANG Shuguo met President Kazuhito Komiya of Chiba Institute of Technology and his delegation. Secretary of Supervision Division CAI Jujin and representatives from the International Office also attended the meeting.

During the meeting President WANG welcomed the guests and reviewed the history of cooperation between the two schools. He also expressed the hope that broader areas of cooperation could be developed with each other. President Komiya indicated that, Chiba Institute of Technology placed great importance on friendly relations and cooperation with our school. They hope for further communication and cooperation, especially in developing an exchange program.

Chiba Institute of Technology was founded as a private university in 1942. Now it includes a Faculty of Engineering with six departments, Faculty of Information and Computer Science with two departments, Faculty of Social Systems Science with three departments, and a Graduate School with three research disciplines. Among all the departments the most significant ones are the Department of Advanced Robotics and Information and Computer Science. Currently there are 8885 undergraduates, 515 graduate students and 533 teachers altogether.

Since 1980, when the two schools established friendly relations with each other, there have been extensive academic exchanges and students exchange activities. This is the first time President Komiya has visited HIT since taking up the position of president in June of 2012.
