October 23, the 5th International Graduate Scholarship Fair sponsored by the China Scholarship Council was held in the HIT gymnasium. It attracted more than 60 universities from America, Britain, Australia and other countries. These well-known universities all have cooperative agreements with the China Scholarship Council and accept Chinese government- sponsored students.

The objective of the CSC is to provide financial assistance to Chinese citizens wishing to study abroad and to the foreign citizens wishing to study in China in order to develop educational, scientific and technological, and cultural exchanges and economic and trade cooperation between China and other countries, to strengthen friendship and understanding between Chinese people and people of other countries, and to promote world peace and the socialist modernization drive in China.

At the Fair, the representatives of these universities brought a wealth of accurate and authoritative information about scholarship applications for 2014 for eligible students. In addition to the establishment of zones in the stadium, many colleges and universities held special presentations in the meeting rooms and in the Zhengxin Building in order to offer applying students more detailed information. Many universities had on-site interviews.

Assistant President XU Dianguo attended the opening ceremony and expressed appreciation to the sponsor, the organizer and representatives of the various institutions for overcoming the influence of the climate. He hoped that the Fair would be a platform for Chinese students to exchange information with overseas universities and to better communicate. He hoped that this platform would provide HIT students with more opportunities to go abroad.

China Scholarship Council Deputy Secretary General Yang Xinyu made a presentation about “2014 Policy and Related Content of National Government-Sponsored Overseas Students” for interested HIT students.
