HIT Course Another “Quality Open Course Video”

On the fourth list of “Quality Open Course Video” released by the Ministry of Education of People’s Republic of China, the Innovation Complex of Regional Architecture by the Professor MEI Hongyuan from the School of Architecture is included. This is HIT’s second national quality open course following the Earthquake Disaster Alleviation and Architecture Aseismatic Design course by CAE fellow XIE Lili.

In the context of universality by globalization, regional architectural innovation is a recently developed design idea focusing on local uniqueness and pluralism. The Innovation Complex of Regional Architecture explains problems concerning the relations between regional architecture and globalization, regional natural environment, regional culture, and ecological technology and introduces the trends in regional architecture innovation from the perspective of rational development.

The Innovation Complex of Regional Architecture is hosted by Professor MEI Hongyuan, Professor SUN Cheng and Associate Professor SHAO Yu. They organized the teaching content including their own scientific research and design practice results. The combination of many theories and design examples provides people with a platform to understand the depths of regional architectural design in a simple way, which is highly praised by both students and experts.
As an important part of National Quality Open Course, the Quality Open Course Video was initiated in 2011 by the Ministry of Education of PRC. It mainly serves college students and there are also free online scientific and cultural quality video courses and lectures for social learners. The courses are developed and reported by the universities and then selected by the experts from the Ministry of Education of PRC, and finally opened to society for free on the website of iCourse, China Network Television, and NetEase. The courses show contemporary Chinese higher education and contribute to the sharing of quality education resources, help the universities in serving society and in increasing cultural inheritance and innovation, and in the development of a learning society.
