Bio of Prof. James E. Penner-Hahn
Professor James E. Penner-Hahn graduated from Stanford University and obtained a doctorate in inorganic chemistry in 1985. At the same year, he became an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Michigan and was promoted to professor in 1994. Professor James E. Penner-Hahn is mainly engaged in the study of biological physics and physical inorganic chemistry. He developed a new X-ray spectroscopy technique, which uses polarized edge structure study of the physical properties of the base of the X-ray absorption and use this technology to study the relationship between the optical and X-ray absorption between metal ions and their properties as well as the relationship between the electronic structures of the ion. He has published in prestigious journals such as Nature and JACS 180 papers. He is one of the experts in the field.
