December 31, 2013, the Ministry of Education announced the first national list of virtual simulation experiment teaching centers. The Municipal Environmental Virtual Experimental Teaching Center of our university became one of the first batch of 100 centers approved nationwide.
Traditional experimental teaching methods mean many problems in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Water supply and Sewerage Engineering and Building Environmental and Facilities Engineering undergraduate experimental teaching practice. They mainly reflect differences in spatial and temporal scale in experiments creating problems. Through Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Center advanced laboratory equipment, teachers can visualize vividly in teaching plumbing, heating, gas and other large urban complex pipe network information distribution system, the simulation of normal operation and fault conditions hydraulic pipe network system and thermodynamic properties; 3D visualization of complex municipal, energy equipment internal structure and processes, real-time demonstration of large-scale space inside the ground - air - air pollution transport and environmental change. The Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Center can provide students with more intuitive, in-depth understanding of the relevant course content and provide very important teaching aids.
The building of the Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Center will lead to changing the practice of undergraduate teaching which is fundamentally dependent on the traditional concept of teaching. It coordinates the theoretical teaching and experimental teaching theory and changes the teaching atmosphere. It advances educational philosophy and teaching guidelines to implement relevant undergraduate experimental teaching, achieves the integration of theory and practical teaching, providing a multi-level, multi-modular interface between science and the experimental teaching system. The center in the experimental content, experimental methods, laboratory equipment and experimental techniques can follow the discipline development closely, include continuous improvement and development, promote students' self-learning ability, improve their practical ability and innovative ability.
