HIT Students win Chinese University Students Self-Star Award

January 13th, the list of winners of 2013 Chinese University Students Self-Star Award were announced. HIT graduate students LI Shengyong from the School of Electronics and Information Engineering (2013) and WAN Long from the School of Material Science and Engineering (2013) won nomination awards.

The event was held by the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Youth League and the All- China Students Federation, with “My Chinese Dream--Youth Empowerment and Chinese Dream Achievement” as the theme. From different angles of patriotic dedication, ethics promotion, scientific and technological innovation, independent entrepreneurship and volunteer charity work, the event searched for contemporary typical university students who became self-reliant and worked hard for their dreams, in order to be an amiable, respectable, credible and learnable example for other contemporary university students to achieve their own Chinese dreams. The search began in September of 2013, the recommendation lists came from school media interviewing and NRS certification and recommendations from Tecent Weibo, and the finalists were approved by the expert committee. The number of applicants  this year hit a higher record of 11826, including 1141 colleges and universities in China.
