To highlight the leading role of famous scientists and scholars in scientific research and scientific spirit, HIT has officially launched the Scientists Forum series of activities. The Scientists Forum will invite famous scientists and experts and scholars with recognized international influence and activity in related fields as the keynote speakers to give a presentation, about scientific knowledge, scientific research spirit, academic and scientific research methods and ethics to guide the development of our school-related disciplines, to share and exchange scientific experience with lecturers and students.
March 17, the first Scientists Forum hosted by HIT and organised by the School of Life Sciences and Technology invited structural biologist, the dean of the School of Life Sciences, Tsinghua University, SHI Yigong as guest speaker. Dean SHI brought "Life Sciences and Structure" academic report for teachers and students attracting much attention. The vivid report took teachers and students into the magical microscopic world, and an intimate discussion resonated with young teachers’. The teachers and students who participated in the Scientists Forum activities expressed the hope that HIT could invite more renowned scientists and scholars into the forum, bringing to the forefront international academic lectures in related fields.
During an interview with reporters, Professor HUANG Zhiwei of the School of Life Sciences and Technology said that Dean SHI Yigong is a famous scientist in the field of life sciences, with the cutting-edge information and successful experiences he shared in his Scientists Forum presentation, including his understanding of scientific issues and elaboration of the Scientific research system, inspired young teachers including himself. Dean SHI also developed from a young teachers one step at a time. His academic and scientific ideas are worth reflecting on and learning by young teachers. They hope the Scientists Forum could continue to invite renowned experts in different fields to HIT, to bring benefits to everyone.
Professor ZHU Jiaqi from the School of Astronautics said in an interview that it was a very good move to invite masters to HIT communicate with teachers and students through the platform of the Scientists Forum, especially when it included interactive discussion and exchange links and guest speakers and young teachers shared their own growth experiences and cutting-edge ideas, so that we develop a new concept of the traditional scientific knowledge, which is helpful for the growth of young teachers.
