From April 14 to April 16, a delegation from the Australian National University (ANU) led by the President of ANU, Professor Ian Young visited HIT and signed a student exchange agreement with HIT. President of HIT, Wang Shuguo welcomed the delegation. President Wang introduced the development of HIT and its major disciplines, expressing his desire to deepen cooperation with ANU. Professor Young said that the two universities would continue to strengthen their cooperation and exchange.
During the visit, the ANU delegation visited the School of Computer Science and Technology, the of Astronautics, the School of Science, the Academy of Science and Industry,the HIT Institute of Robotics,the State Key Laboratory of Urban Water Resource and Environment and the School of Civil Engineering. They held discussions with leaders and teachers from the School of Electronics and Information Engineering and School of Mechatronic Engineering to learn about the scientific research and students of HIT, and establish intentions to cooperate in areas including undergraduate and doctoral students joint training in computing, telecommunications, and science, especially physics. April 15, Professor Young was invited to present a “Scientist Lecture” and gave a special report.
As a member of the G8 Australian universities, the Australian National University is the only national university, ranking the 27th on the latest QS World Universities Rankings with 6 alumni being Nobel prize winners. It has strengths in scientific research especially in fundamental research. It ranks the first in Australia with more than 270 Australian National Academicians. It has more than half of the Australian fellows of Royal Society, more than the total of all the other Australian universities.
