HIT Teams succeed in National Concrete Materials Design Contest

In the recent 3rd National Concrete Material Design Contest for University Students, a team of junior students from the School of Civil Engineering LIU Xiaonan, QIAN Chen and LUAN Xiaoxu won a first prize on behalf of HIT. Another team from the School of Transportation Science and Engineering won the a third prize.

This contest was hosted by the Advisory Board for Inorganic Non-metallic Materials Majors Teaching under Ministry of Education, the Education and Human Resources Committee of China Concrete and Cements Products Association and National Higher Education Research of Architecture Materials. The contest had the theme of “C50 Self-compacting Concrete” and was divided into three parts: theory, design and practice. A total of 109 teams from 61 universities including HIT, Tongji University, Southeast University and Dalian University of Technology participated in this contest, making this contest the biggest one with the most participants in its history. There were 3 grand prizes, 7 first prizes, 15 second prizes and 25 third prizes in total.

According to the organizers, the contest is aimed at combining the theory in class and practice in experiments to encourage students to learn academic knowledge and apply what they have learned, to cultivate their spirits of innovation and teamwork, and to examine their practical skills and overall quality. It is a scientific and technological contest for university students majoring in inorganic non-metallic materials and civil engineering and held every other year.
