On May 6th, the Sixth Mechanical Innovation Design Competition for National College Students was held in HIT. Our school students performed excellently again in the competition, and won 11 first prizes and 21 second prizes. LIU Jianan and CUI Shipeng won the outstanding instructor award. HIT Vice President DENG Zongquan attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.
The Mechanical Innovation Design Competition for National College Students is sponsored by the Steering Committee of the Mechanical Discipline of the Ministry of Education. It provides science and technology activities for college students. It aims to cultivate the innovative design capacity, integrated design capacity and spirit of cooperation of students; improving the capacity of students to complete practical work and providing training on engineering practice; enhancing students’ capacity in innovative thinking, mechanical design and craftsmanship, and attracting and encouraging more students to actively participate in extracurricular technological activities to create conditions for the development of excellent talents. The sixth competition’s theme was "Magic - Dream Classroom", which is based on “The design and production of classroom equipment and teaching aids". Student’s ideas may be based on the observation of everyday classroom situations or imagination of the classroom environment several years in the future, to design and produce mechanical devices which could make classrooms richer and more attractive.
A total of 11 universities with 81 projects participated in the competition, among them 32 projects from HIT. At the HIT Student Activity Center, a new episodic dust rolling blackboard, multifunctional dream chairs, interchanging function blackboard, smart structures and institutions demonstration teaching aids of the lunar rover, fantasy pointers and all kinds of projects full of innovative ideas attracted students and teachers to gather to watch. Students who participated in the competition eagerly answered questions, and made live demonstrations, which showed the in-depth knowledge base and creative thinking of the college students.
