On July 8th, Academician CHEN Mufa was employed asanHIT Honorary Professor. In the evening of July 8th, Academician CHEN attended HIT’s Science Forum and delivered a speech entitled,TheNew Educational Transformation Led by Networks. He shared his views with teachers and students, and encouraged students to cultivate the ability to self-learn, a spirit of teamwork and critical consciousness to embrace changes. In the speech, Academician CHEN analyzed the rise course of networks, the changes in the field of education caused by networks, and the impact that large open online coursescaused on the traditional mode of educationby using vivid pictures and screenshots of web pages, and combining with his growing experience and research experience. In the interactive session, Academician CHENanswered questions from teachers and students. Academician CHEN is a Beijing Normal University professor and Doctoral supervisor, and is mainly engaged in research work in probability theory and its related fields. He makes important contributionsin Eigenvalues estimation, spectral theory, ergodic theory and coupling theory.He was elected as the Chinese Academy of Sciences Academician in 2003.
