On July 2nd, the Sino-Russian University President Forum was held in Harbin. ZHOU Yu, President of Harbin Institute of Technology attended the forum and gave a report.
XU Mei, Director-General of the Heilongjiang Provincial Education Department presided over the opening ceremony of the Sino-Russian University President Forum. SUN Dongsheng, Vice Governor of Heilongjiang Province, YU Jihai, Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges (Office for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs), Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, Evgeny Tomikhin, Minister Counselor of the Russian Embassy in China, and Igor Ganshin, Counselor of the Russian Embassy in China attended the opening ceremony and made speeches.
The theme of the forum was “elite training for the comprehensive strategic cooperation between China and Russia”. The presidents and rectors of 31 universities in China and Russia participated in the activities.
President ZHOU made a report at the forum. He introduced the educational philosophy, training program and experience of HIT’s elite training as well as the present situation and advantage of the cooperation between HIT and Russian universities, especially in regards to HIT’s elite training practices and the scientific and technological cooperation between China and Russia.
During the forum, President ZHOU met with Sergey N. Ivanchenko, President of Pacific National University, Vladimir N. Zimin, First Vice Rector of Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Sergey V. Korshunov, Vice Rector of Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Igor A. Gorlinsky, Senior Vice Rector of Saint Petersburg State University, and Evgeniy V. Shakhmatov, Rector of Samara State Aerospace University. REN Nanqi, Vice President of Harbin Institute of Technology met with Minister Counselor Tomikhin, Yury Kolesnikov, Vice Rector of Saint Petersburg National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics, Vladimir I. Kurilov, Vice President of Far Eastern Federal University, and Pavel M. Vcherashny, First Vice Rector of Siberian Federal University. Vice President REN also signed a cooperation agreement with Vice President Kurilov of Far Eastern Federal University. During the meeting, Vice President REN and Vice President Kurilov reviewed the cooperation situation and expressed wishes that both sides can strengthen exchanges and expand cooperation in talent training, scientific research, teaching and learning to promote the common development.
