On December 9th, Assistant President XU Xiaofei, on behalf of HIT, attended a breakfast reception, held by President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins, in Beijing, at the invitation of the Irish Government’s Trade and Technology Agency.
More than two hundred Chinese and Irish people in areas of education, technology and trade industry attended the reception.
Assistant President XU and the Irish Government’s Trade and Technology Agency’s CEOJulie Sinnamon, talked with each other during the reception. Assistant President XU expressed the desire to strengthen cooperation with Irish enterprises. Introduced bySinnamon, XU met President Higgins and posed for pictures. President Higgins said thatIreland would continue to improve Irish and Chinese education cooperation programs. He also encouraged both sides to further enhance cooperation.
During the reception, Assistant President XU and Dublin Institute of Technology Vice President Noel O’Connor, and Director of the HIT International Office WU Bing had a conversation recalling exchange history and cooperative achievements between the two schools. They all expressed hope that both sides can enhance cooperation in student training, teacher exchanges and science research. Assistant President XU and National University of Ireland Galway President James J. Browne also had a talk and expressed their desires to strengthen cooperation.
Previously, Assistant XU also attended the culture exchange activity Night of Poem, Musicand Dance at the invitation of President Higgins and his wife on December 8th.
