On January 5th, the HIT Shenzhen Campus Graduate School held the 2015 degree granting ceremony for master’s students, which was also 2015 commencement. Related staff of the Shenzhen Graduate School and members of the HIT Academic Degrees Committee attended the ceremony. President of HIT Shenzhen Graduate School, YAO Yingxue, read the 2015 master degree granting decision. President ZHOU Yu delivered a speech.
President ZHOU congratulated all graduates for successfully completing their studies in his speech. He said that students of the Shenzhen Graduate School had inherited the spirit of the school motto: “Being strict in qualifications for graduates; making every endeavor in educating students.” They had acquired knowledge and become mature in Shenzhen, a land of reform and openness. As outstanding people among peers, he exhorted students to realize their mission to contribute to the prosperity of the Chinese Nation, the strength of China, and the affluence of Chinese people. The ceremony was a new start for students. President ZHOU expressed hope that the graduates will take on great responsibilities and remain indifferent, whether they are granted favors or subjected to humiliation. He also said that graduates should be people with high aspirations and dreams, adhering to their dreams and, bearing in mind China’s history, be dreamers of the great rejuvenation of China. He hoped that graduates might be people of responsibility and courage. They should be broad-minded, tolerant and kind. They should be people who are dedicated. They should keep in mind that persistence and loyalty are the golden keys to success; kindness and sincerity are the balance of personality; justice and resoluteness are the guides of action; and respect and tolerance are the best way to treat others. President ZHOU also said that HIT will now be the graduates’ spiritual home forever. He expressed wishes that all students might achieve great achievements and become proud of HIT and China.
School of Civil Engineering Vice President, LIU Tiejun, as teacher representative, gave a speech. He expressed hope that graduates had not only learned solid expertise and innovative thinking from HIT, but also had gained a rigorous work ethic and humble personality. He also stated his hope that graduates would be always grateful and love their work. He also hoped they might develop the habit of lifelong learning and a life attitude of having things to do, people to love, and hope. School of Computer Science and Technology student, LI Xiao, as student representative, said in her speech that HIT is a family who will always share their happiness of success and comfort one another in the sorrow of failure. They would try hard to achieve success to return to HIT.
After swearing the oath solemnly, all the graduates stood up and sang the anthem. The graduate ceremony concluded with the passionate and beautiful anthem.
