HIT students win seven State Science Award prizes

On January 9th, the CPC Central Committee and the State Council held the National Science and Technology Awards Conference in Beijing. The leaders of the Party and the central government, XI Jinping, LI Keqiang, LIU Yunshan and ZHANG Gaoli, attended the meeting to present the awards to the winners. Overall, HIT won seven State Science Award prizes, including one first prize and six, second place prizes. The winners from HIT went to Beijing to accept their awards.
 
"Satellite-to-Ground Laser Communication Links system," under the charge of Professor MA Jing won the first prize of the National Award for Technological Invention. The last time HIT won this award was in 2006.

The "research on thermal damage and failure mechanism analysis of composites under ultra-high temperature,” under the charge of Professor HAN Jiecai and “control theory and methods for dynamic networked systems with communication constraints,” under the charge of Professor GAO Huijun won the second prize for the State Natural Science Award, emphasizing that this research has made rapid and essential progress. The project, “key technology research on  space fold-unfold and lock-unlock mechanisms,” under the charge of Professor DENG Zongquan and the one overseen by Professor FENG Jicai, both won the second prize for the National Award for Technological Invention, The project under the charge of Professor ZHAI Guofu and the “Study on Key Construction Technology of Prestressed Concrete,” each won the second prize for the National Award for Science and Technology Progress.
 
A total of 318 projects, eight scientific experts and one foreign organization were granted the 2014 National Science and Technology Awards. Among them were, one National Science and Technology Award, 46 National Prizes for Natural Sciences (one first prize and 45 second prizes), 70 National Technology Invention Awards (three first prizes and 67 second prizes), and 202 National Science and Technology Progress Awards (three grand prizes, 26 first prizes, and 173 second prizes). Additionally, the International Science and Technology Cooperation Prize was granted to seven foreign scientists and one foreign organization.
