Recently, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security issued a document confirming the list of selected candidates for the 2014 National “Pacesetter Project.” Professor LIU Hong of HIT has been selected for the project, and given the title of, “an expert with outstanding contribution.”
The national “Pacesetter Project” is a significant talents project for choosing and cultivating mid-career leaders in academic and technological fields. It is also a fundamental part of the strategy of innovation-driven development, aiming at the implementation of reinvigorating China through the development of human resources, and specifically strengthening the construction of high-level talent team. Beginning in 2012, China plans to spend almost ten years selecting and cultivating nearly four thousand national candidates of the “Pacesetter Project.” These candidates include high level mid-career leading individuals who are at the forefront of global science and technology, leading and supporting the development of nationally important technology and key fields by leaps and bounds. The selection of candidates for the project is held once every year. A total number of three thousand and ninety people are enrolled in 2014, among whom nine come from The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of subordinate colleges.
