On May 22, the conference of Education Cooperation and Communication among countries along the Silk Road economic belt was held in Xi’an. About 100 universities from 22 nations and areas in the whole world got together in the starting place of the Silk Road and jointly announced the establishment of “Universities Alliance of the New Silk Road—UANSR”. As a member of the founding units, HIT was invited to the conference and XU Dianguo, Vice President of HIT, attended the conference.
With the theme of “jointly establishing the platform of education cooperation and promoting the development of areas”, UANSR aims to promote communication and cooperation in such areas as interschool communications, talent training, scientific cooperation, cultural exchange, policy study & medical service and the development of the area along the Silk Road economic belt and European & Asian areas. Currently, about 100 universities from 22 countries and areas successively joined UANSR, such as Moscow State Technical University that was named after N.E Bauman, Kazakhstan Nazarbaev University, Kyrgyz National Normal University, Supélec, Polytechnic University of Milan, University of Liverpool, University of Sciences and Technology, Pakistan, National University of Singapore, Pusan National University, Chiang Mai University and Tampere University of Technology.
The first president forum of UANSR was held at the same time. Participants of the conference discussed such aspects as “enhancing the cooperation of higher education and promoting regional open-up and development”, talent training and scientific cooperation in the framework of UANSR. As the representative of Chinese universities, in this forum XU Dianguo gave a speech named New Silk Road, New Future——Scenery Here Is Very Beautiful. With the major strategy of “One Belt, One Road”, he highlighted the characteristics of China and Russia in Eurasia and introduced the current situation and future plan of ASRTU. And the plan of Euro-Asia Scientific Forum was proposed for the first time. It is hoped that depending on ASRTU, UANSR and universities of countries along the Silk Road economic belt, that a platform for high level talent training and frontier scientific innovation, technology incubation industry, cultural and educational exchanges will be actively set up and integration of areas and common development also will be strengthened. During the forum, XU Dianguo met with Martin, the vice president of the University of New South Wales, Korshunova, the vice president of Moscow State Technical University that was named after N.E Bauman, Haibo, the vice president of Technical University of Berlin, MuDan Nove, the president of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Fei Yez, the vice president of Turkey Sabanci University, and Knoch, the vice president of Polytechnic University of Milan. They exchanged ideas on strengthening the interschool communication of talent training and scientific cooperation and improving the cooperation pattern and level.
During the conference, the representatives of HIT also attended a series of activities, such as the Cultural Festival of Overseas Student, Integration of Science and Arts: Theme Concert of UANSR and Connection and Communication of Universities of UANSR.
The conference was held to announce the establishment of UANSR.
