On May 28, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) Member, President of National Center for Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Sciences, GUO Lei spoke at HIT’s Scientist Forum. Vice President REN Nanqi met CAS Member GUO, and awarded him the Scientist Forum Guest Speaker certificate. CAS Member WANG Zicai, the lead staff and teacher of HIT Human Resource Department and the school of Astronautics, attended the meeting.
After the meeting, CAS Member GUO gave a report of the fundamental problems of automatic control --- research frontiers of feedback mechanism for teachers and students. CAS Member GUO took examples from life to introduce the basic concept of "feedback" for the control field and a cutting-edge academic proposition of "feedback and uncertainty". He also illustrated the connection and contradiction between “feedback” and “uncertainty” by analyzing formulas, charts, and giving examples. He talked about the important role between the two conceptions played in control scientific development and the latest achievements and research direction in the field of feedback mechanism. After the report, CAS Member GUO answered the questions of teachers and students patiently and made recommendations to young teachers and graduates doing academic research.
Professor Guo is Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Foreign Member of Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences, Fellow of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Fellow of International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC), Council Member of IFAC, Member, Academic Degree Committee of the State Council, etc. He has been awarded the National Natural Science Prize of China, Young Scientist Prize of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Natural Science Prize of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Special Contribution Award of University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), The May 4th Medal for Chinese Youth, and other awards. He studies basic problems of control theory, Non-equilibrium population system, Complex Adaptive System, and Quantum control systems. He makes great contribution in the researches of Stochastic Adaptive Control, Non-stationary and time varying system estimation and Feedback mechanism capacity and limitations. He served as a consultant, associate editor and on editorial boards in domestic and foreign academic journals in systems, control and mathematics fields.
