On November 3rd, the doctoral degree presentation ceremony was held in the HIT Museum. Assistant President Zhen Liang presided over the ceremony, and read the Harbin Institute of Technology Academic Degrees Committee decision on Doctoral degrees presentation. President Zhou Yu granted 145 graduates doctoral degrees and took photos with them. The related lead staff and doctoral supervisors granted doctoral degree certificates to graduates. Assistant President Liu Hong, HIT Academic Degrees Committee members, and doctoral supervisors attended the ceremony. According to the 155th meeting of the Academic Degree Committee, 145 students obtained their doctorate degrees, 10 in Science, 120 in engineering, and 15 in management.

President Zhou Yu said: "Against the background of promoting the national strategy of innovation-driven development and the public entrepreneurship and innovation era, you, as the elite of society, should blend into the tide of national innovation, assume the duties and responsibilities of innovative development, rise up to challenges and utilize your talents to be excellent. HIT should also keep pace with the times, keep up with the pulse of the national innovation-driven development, highlight its features and advantages, inherent tradition to explore innovation, and seize the opportunity to play a role in the pursuit of excellence, so that the development of HIT can reach a new level. Meanwhile, HIT specifications are the tradition and the growth magic of HIT. It has been internalized in each HITer's cultural genes. You must be particularly impressive, since you have studied here for many years. ”

On the occasion of PhD graduates about to set out on the voyage of life, President Zhou Yu proposed three requirements in terms of HIT doctor specification: Firstly, students should follow the life specifications of morality, integrity and kindness. They should be strict in their actions and minds, be kind, compassionate people, and strive to create good personal qualities to deliver kindness and help others. Secondly, practical and simple, rigorous work specifications should be followed, so that students can obtain a solid foundation of basic theory, and the ability of engineering practice. They should work hard with simple minds, be pragmatic about innovation and pioneering, and always hold themselves to high standards and strict requirements. Thirdly, the exploring innovation, striving for excellent scholarly specifications should be followed. PhD research work gives graduates creative ideas, innovative ability and creative courage, which are the guarantees of their assuming excellence. HIT has been created one miracle after another. HITers unswervingly pursue the dream of building a world-class university even in unfavorable conditions relying on its tradition, culture and spirit. These are the treasure and inexhaustible power of HIT for the endless prosperity, the pursuit of excellence and world-class construction. We want the spirit of HIT to be passed down from generation to generation, to be spread to the community, and to the workplace. HITers should make their contributions to the prosperity and the goals of a world-class university of HIT and to the prosperity of our country. It is their mission to make China and HIT stronger, which is conferred by our country and university. Graduates should have the courage to challenge themselves, challenge problems and assume glorious responsibility for the innovation and rejuvenation of our country through science and technology. Finally, President Zhou Yu said: "You are granted doctoral degrees and win the honor and respect, while, at the same time, you, as HIT doctors, represent a specification and mission. HIT specifications have rich connotation. I hope you can participate in the discussion of HIT specifications to make the connotation more concise even after graduation. You should pass on life specifications, work specifications and scholarly specifications in the future to forge ahead on the road of life and obtain great achievements.”

Doctoral supervisor representative, School of Management Professor Zhang Li expressed her hope that PhD graduates could be practical and high-minded, could take responsibility and be grateful, could own good health and a positive attitude to forge brilliance through struggle and sweat.

Graduate representative from the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Dong Hui expressed thanks and best wishes to HIT, teachers, families and friends in his speech. He said: "No matter where we are, we have to bear in mind the school motto: ‘Being strict in qualifications for graduates; making every endeavor in educating students.’ We should assume the responsibility conferred to us by our country, ethnic groups and society and open up a gorgeous journey of life with the enterprising spirit, winning glory for our alma mater.”

Graduates relatives representative Kang Xiaorong expressed appreciation to HIT and supervisors for their cultivation and expressed wishes that graduates could forge ahead to create extraordinary futures and keep a grateful heart to give back to society and others.

The doctoral degree presentation ceremony came to an end with the HIT song sung by all the teachers and students.
