From September 19th to 20th, HIT hosted the 8th National College Students’ Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the second campus sponsored by the Ministry of Education. The theme was “Youth, Dream, Innovation and Entrepreneurship”. About 1,100 people gathered in HIT to discuss education and practice during this meeting including teachers and students from about 230 colleges and universities, officials from the Ministry of Education and local education authorities, national college students' innovation and entrepreneurship training expert group and the group members and representatives of enterprises. Some of them delivered speeches at the opening ceremony including Fan Hailin, the deputy director of the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, Xu Mei, the director of the Education Department of Heilongjiang Province and Wang Shuquan, Party Secretary of HIT. Four of HIT’s five works won prizes, which is our best record.

"The organization structure and thermoelectric performance of AgNaxSb1-xSe2" written by Cai Songting from the School of Materials Science and Engineering and “The SERS in-situ study of surface plasmon’s induced catalysis to nitration reaction of benzene” written by Huang Wei from the School of Science of chemistry were awarded “Excellent Academic Paper” prizes. The “Automatic cooking machine” made by Zhang Yuxing from the School of Mechatronics Engineering was awarded the “My Favorite Project” prize. "The handheld electromagnetic ultrasound flaw detector" created by Zhao Hui from the School of Electrical Engineering and Automation was awarded the “Excellent Venture Project” prize.

Han Jiecai, the vice president presided over the opening ceremony. The team leader and deputy of national college students ' innovation and entrepreneurship training program Chen Qiyuan and Li Zhiyi, the director of the Science and Technology Department of the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education Wu Aihua, researcher Hou Yongfeng, the official of the Education Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology He Zhaozhan, the ninth annual meeting sponsor, the vice president of Xiamen University Wu Daguang, the deputy director of the Education Department of Heilongjiang Province Zhao Lin and vice president of HIT Ding Xuemei attended the opening and closing ceremonies and honored the winning teams. Through participants’ internet voting and experts’ comments, the meeting selected 27 "Excellent Academic Paper" prizes, 16 "My Favorite Project" prizes, 15 "Best Creative Project" prizes, 6 "Excellent Venture Project" prizes and 13 "Most Discerning Project" prizes.

The annual meeting displayed the latest results of college students’ innovation and entrepreneurship comprehensively through lectures, academic reports, presentation of innovative projects, entrepreneurial promotion, work discussion and recreational activities. The annual meeting had the largest number of projects including 756 academic papers from 491 universities, 721 innovative entrepreneurial showcase projects and 156 innovative entrepreneurial promotion projects. The annual meeting also received 13 academic papers and innovative entrepreneurial showcase projects from Russia and Macao Special Administrative Region. After related disciplines experts’ preliminary evaluation of the country's 36 "985" universities and experts’ check of the national college students' innovation and entrepreneurship training program, the meeting eventually selected 180 academic papers, 150 innovative entrepreneurial showcase projects and 45 innovative entrepreneurial promotion projects to participate in this annual meeting.

The meeting invited chief designer of the manned spacecraft system Zhang Bonan, CSC Group’s partner, co-president, and China Science and Merchants Entrepreneurship Innovation Investment Management CO.LTD’s manager Liu Jijun, expert of the Thousand Talents Plan of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee and HIT assistant principal Liu Hong to gave speeches respectively with themes of "the Experience of China's Manned Space Development and Engineering Innovation", "My Path of Entrepreneurship" and "Made in China 2025".

The annual meeting of national college students ' innovation and entrepreneurship is an important annual event relying on the national college students ' innovation and entrepreneurship training program. Since its launch in 2008, the annual meeting has become one of the national undergraduate teaching reform events with most extensive coverage, most impact, most students and the highest levels. For the past annual meetings, HIT ranks high among the nation's universities with 30 of her projects chosen and 9 of them winning prizes.
