HIT hosts study activities about Energy City in Heilongjiang province

From October 23rd to 25th, the study group of Heilongjiang energy city went to Daqing to study, which was sponsored by the China Scholarship Council and hosted by the Education Department of Heilongjiang Province. Before this activity, Ren Nanqi, the Vice President of HIT, met with Li Yanguang, the Director of Division of International Students Affairs of China Scholarship Council.

This activity attracted more than 150 foreign students in master degrees and doctoral degrees who won CSC Scholarships. They are students from 9 universities, including Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin Engineering University, Northeast Forestry University and so on. During the activity, those students learned about the development history, city orientation and development direction of Daqing. They also visited the third oil recovery factory in Daqing, 1025 drilling crew and Hi-tech Development Zone of Daqing. Besides, they visited some city sights, including Daqing Oil Field Science Museum, City-planning Museum, the Ironman Memorial and the Oil Cube. As a result, they experienced and learned the spirit of Daqing and ironman spirit. At the end of this activity, those foreign students said they will learn the spirit of Daqing and ironman spirit in their future life and study, so as to do a good job during their life in China.

The aim of this activity was not only to broaden the foreign students’ horizons in social practice and improve their understanding about the development of China and Chinese culture, but also to positively respond to the strategy of “Tell Good Chinese Stories” proposed by Xi Jinping in the National Foreign Affairs Conference in order to make the world better understand Chinese stories and Chinese spirit.
