Professor Han Jiecai Is Elected as an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences

The Chinese Academy of Sciences has announced the list of newly elected academicians, totalling 61 persons, and their average age is 52.9 years old. Professor Han Jiecai of HIT has been elected.
Born in 1966, Han Jiecai is a professor and a doctoral supervisor. He is now the vice-chancellor of HIT, national level laboratory chief of the composite technology for special environments, part-time committee member of the General Armament Department, a panel member for advanced materials, recipient of the Science Foundation of National Outstanding Youth, foregoer of the creative study of National Science Foundation, vice director of the National Theme 863, vice director of national important projects for materials, managing director of China’s composite learning society, and vice president of The Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics. He has done research on aerospace materials like super-high temperature-proof composites, and wave-transmitting materials for a long time. As the first person to receive the award, he gained the second prize of National Natural Science in 2014, the second prize of National Technological Invention in 2009 and 2011. He has published over 350 academic theses, and been quoted more than 7,000 times. Nine of his theses have been chosen as hot theses, and he has received 65 nationally-authorized patents. He also gained the Model of National Youth Technology, the award nomination for the 13th National Top10 Outstanding Youth, the Youth Teachers’ Award of the first session, the advanced worker of the National Defence Industry, and has cultivated 25 doctors and 27 masters.
