HIT Students Performed Outstandingly in ‘The National Mathematics Competition for Undergraduates’

The final of the Seventh National Mathematics Competition for Undergraduates came to a close recently, and HIT students performed outstandingly. Song Junlin, majoring in Aircraft Design & Engineering, was awarded the National First Prize in the Amateur Group, Wang Jianyun and Yao Qiang, majoring in Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation, were awarded the National Second Prize, Qin Xuejian, majoring in Energy & Power Engineering, and He Yuzhe, majoring in Detection Guidance and Control Techniques, were awarded the National Third Prize. At the same time, Huang Yuankai from HIT (Weihai), majoring in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, was awarded the National First Prize in the Professional Group, and Gu Yunfan and Li Houwang, majoring in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, were awarded the National Second Prize.

The National Mathematics Competition for Undergraduates has been held annually by the Chinese Mathematical Society since 2009, so as to improve students' mathematics basic skills and mathematical abilities, find and select mathematical talents and promote mathematics course development in colleges and universities. Nearly 70,000 undergraduates from 28 Divisions nationwide attended the competition this year. After fierce competition, 148 undergraduates from 284 colleges and universities reached the final competition. Nineteen undergraduates were awarded the First Prize in the Professional Group and 36 undergraduates were awarded the First Prize in the Amateur Group. There were 179 undergraduates who won Second or Third Prizes in both groups.
