That was the confident reply from the student entrepreneurs of Harbin Polar Science and Technology Co., Ltd. in response to questions from investors and venture capital specialists. This is a scene from the live investment and financing roadshow that reporters see in the HIT Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Park. On the morning of March 16th, in order to create an exemplary entrepreneurial atmosphere and attract more outstanding student entrepreneurship programs, HIT Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Park holds activities open to the media for publicity, which have attracted reporters from more than 30 national and provincial media including Guangming Daily, China Youth Daily, China Daily, Heilongjiang Daily, and Heilongjiang TV station.
During the activities, Li Jingwei, Deputy Secretary of the Communist Youth League School and General Manager of the Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Park Development Co., Ltd, delivered an overall description of this student development park. World Wide Welding and Zendroid, which are two outstanding enterprises stationed in the Development Park, gave live presentations. Then reporters visited the mechanical processing platform, startup offices, makers’ workspace, entrepreneurial kung-fu cafe and other public service spaces and had thorough interviews with representatives from entrepreneurial companies, business mentors and investors according to their own needs.
According to the introduction, over the last year, HIT has actively responded to China’s call of “public entrepreneurship and innovation” and implemented Heilongjiang government’s requirement of “HIT should establish a student innovation and entrepreneurship development park appropriately in a concentrated area”. HIT leaders have been to the construction site many times to arrange, supervise and facilitate the construction of the innovation and entrepreneurship development park. With close cooperation and active efforts between various departments, the construction of the student development park was carried out in an organized and initiative manner.
The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Park adheres to the development concept of “high starting point planning, Hi-Tech-oriented guidance, open office and market-oriented operation” and the principles of “close cooperation between Government, Industry, University and Research, of innovative and entrepreneurial elements, of teacher research and entrepreneurship and of students’ academic achievement and entrepreneurship” with an educational mission of cultivating top-notch innovative talents. It emphasizes joining technology, capital and market together and associating creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship, and builds a professional service and management team made up of business mentors, technical supervisors, investment managers and management staff. It is home to the HIT Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Park Development Co., Ltd. and a total of more than 3,700 square meters of student startup offices. The Student Development Park has set up “double-five” business support system with five services and five dockings in order to provide all-round support with comprehensive elements for maker teams and startups during the whole business-starting process. There are currently 38 startups and 22 maker teams settled in the Development Park, and the total accumulated venture capital amounts to 16.5 million yuan. In 2015, sales totaled more than 12 million yuan. There are a total of 228 employees in the Development Park, among whom 116 are students and 112 are graduates. Among the graduates, 57 are from other provinces but have stayed in Heilongjiang after graduation and have started their own businesses. The Development Park has attracted 41 high-level personnel from both domestic and foreign well-known enterprises to return to Harbin and start their own companies, helping enhance the “HIT Index”.
