On May 6th, the 2016 Sino-Japanese University Forum was held in Beijing and Zhou Yu, the president of HIT, attended the forum and gave a speech.
President Zhou Yu gave a speech with the theme of “the construction and development of first class universities”. He indicated, as the two wheels of the central task of talent training, teaching and scientific research support and promote each other. Only in this way, can the task of talent training be effectively implemented. To present the features of era development, to promote human civilization’s progress and to meet the needs of national and social development are university responsibilities. Opportunities and the common development of industries and zones are strong forces to promote the development of universities. Special features and advantages are common attributes of first class universities. These features should be important factors in the direction of university development.
The Sino-Japanese University Forum was held in 2010 for the first time and in total has been held seven times in China and Japan. This forum is co-organized by the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. The forum held deep discussions about how to construct world-class universities from such aspects as the coordinated development of teaching and scientific research, the conditions to construct world-class universities and globalized talent training. Leaders from more than 20 Chinese and Japanese first class universities attended the forum, such as the University of Tokyo, Kyoto University, Nagoya University, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Harbin Institute of Technology, University of Science and Technology of China and so on.
Relevant officials of the Undergraduate College and International Cooperation Department attended the forum.
