At the invitation of HKUST, our president Zhou Yu led a delegation to Hong Kong from the 18th to 20th in June to join the celebrations for the 25th anniversary of HKUST and met our schoolfellows in Hong Kong.
In the forenoon of 19th ,the president of HKUST Chen Fanchang, the deputy vice-chancellor Shi Wei, the vice-chancellor Veng Yideng and the associate vice-president Wu Enbo met with the HIT delegation and they introduced the development process, the present situation and the future plan of HKUST since its foundation 25 years ago and the cooperation between HKUST and HIT in scientific engineering projects，the construction of ShenZhen campus and the teachers’exchange. Zhou Yu also introduced the latest development of“One University and Three Campuses”of HIT. They exchanged a common concern –the construction and development of the world-class university.
In the afternoon of 19th, the HIT delegation met with the new alumni boards of the Alumni Association in Hong Kong and had an informal discussion with the former alumnus representatives in Hong Kong. The director of the Alumni Association in Hong Kong named Cai Jian introduced the work development situation in the past few years and reviewed the unforgettable memories and expressed his gratitude for the cultivation and assistance of HIT. President Zhou Yu made a brief introduction of the development of “One University and Three Campuses” in the past year. He indicated that the former alumni has been kept HIT and their teachers in mind, and concerned about the development of HIT and carried out the HIT standard which revealed the deep emotion to HIT. School motto，school spirit and the alumni are valuable treasures of a university. Whether a university is good or not depends on the development of the alumni. If the alumni succeed in the career, our school will be proud of that. HIT will continue to support the development of the Alumni Association, care for the alumni, give full play to the power of alumni and treat the alumni like the parents to their children. HIT will also build a broader platform to strengthen the exchange and cooperation between alumni and HIT, as well as the exchange and cooperation among alumni. Then, a kind of intimate, interactive and life-long alumni culture can be founded. The alumni indicated in succession that they were impressed by the face-to-face communication with President Zhou Yu and they also expected the future development of HIT. During the meeting, the alumni also offer advice and suggestions on the curriculum setting, talent cultivation and cooperation between school and enterprises positively.
During their stay in Hong Kong, the delegation also participated in the Asia University Summit jointly hosted by HKUST and Times Higher Education and visited the enterprises founded by the alumni.
