HIT President Zhou Yu Visits UK and Participates in Relevant Activities at the Invitation of Deputy Party Committee Secretary and Governor of Heilongjiang Lu Hao

On June 6 to 7, Deputy Party Committee Secretary and Governor of Heilongjiang Lu Hao pays a visit to UK with a Heilongjiang business delegation of science and technology. At the invitation of the governor, President Zhou Yu joins the visit, where he discusses with relevant graphene researchers at Imperial College London and University of Manchester to promote bilateral cooperation and also exchanges ideas with HIT alumni from University of Manchester.

At ICL, the delegation carry out an in-depth exchange with Vice President David Gann on the technical ways to industrialize scientific and technological achievements, pay a visit to Data Science Institute and Lightweight Manufacturing Laboratory at the Department of Mechanical Engineering to learn the latest academic achievements and their industrialization modes. Seeing that so many researchers are from HIT, Lu Hao is happy for their academic fruits and welcomes them to be a part of the development of Heilongjiang through a variety of ways.

At Graphene Research Centre of University of Manchester, the delegation have an intensive discussion with President Roseville and the 2010 Nobel Laureate in Physics Novoselov on how to industrialize the scientific and technological achievements by enterprises, governments and higher education institutions, and exchange ideas to enhance cooperation between Heilongjiang Province and Graphene Research Centre of University of Manchester. Consul General in Manchester Li Yongsheng and Consul Lv Xiaomei attend the event.

Lu Hao has a discussion with HIT alumni association at Manchester when Dr. Li Xin, president of HIT Alumni Association in UK and its Secretary-General Dr. Tian Yingtao introduce the development of the alumni association in UK. On hearing their remarks, Lu Hao expresses his great delight to see so many HIT students study and work in UK. He also briefs them on how Heilongjiang uses new business models to promote the industrialization of scientific and technological achievements and the implementation of “mass entrepreneurship and innovation”, encouraging them to study hard at the University of Manchester, and adds that they will be welcomed to take part in the development of their hometown at an appropriate time in various ways.

Mr. Zhou makes a detailed study of Chinese overseas students’ study and life in UK and hopes that all of them can stick to the HIT motto of “being strict in qualifications for graduates; making every endeavor in educating students”, maintain the serious and discreet attitude in actions and being, seek truth-seeking academic spirit, and finish the study as soon as possible to return home.
