“I can speak five languages – Chinese, English, Russian, German and French, and I want to find a job relating to translation.” On July 6, Elia from Russia fluently introduces her competitiveness and job objective at an oversea student job fair held by School of International Co-Education.
More than 20 Chinese and foreign enterprises come to recruit at the job fair, including ZTE Corporation, Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., CSCEC Electronic Engineering Co. Ltd., China Railway International Group, Alibaba Group, three Russian companies and four Sino-Russian cross-border E-commerce enterprises, offering a wide range of jobs, such as translation, technology and management. According to recruiters from China Railway International Group, they are in urgent need for interdisciplinary talents who not only know technology but also speak the language and who not only understand China but also are familiar with the international market. Since they attach great importance to this job fair, they also threw a campus talk. This recruitment covers 26 categories of positions, including technology, management and engineering and over 60 resumes are received in the morning.
Oversea students are very enthusiastic and nearly 200 students come to the fair with well-prepared resumes and actively communicate with recruiters. Wu Hongliang, who is from Mongolia, submits his resume to Country Garden and China Railway International Group in hope to find a job relating to his major regardless of the working location. In addition, he is very grateful to HIT to organize this job fair, saying, “this exclusive job fair serves great help for oversea students because ‘one-to-one’ and ‘one-to-many’ face-to-face communication with enterprises will provide more job choices, so we can find better jobs.” Russian volunteer Misha hopes to take this opportunity to learn more about Chinese labor market and expresses his wish to stay and work in China one day, making a contribution to the bilateral economic exchanges and cooperation.
Gu Jianzheng, Deputy Director of International Cooperation Department and Dean of School of International Co-Education, says in the introduction that it is the first time for the school to hold an oversea student job fair. He adds, on one hand, increasing foreign students want to stay and work in China thanks to China’s rapid economic development and hope the job fair will provide them with more job opportunities. On the other hand, with the bringing up of “One Belt One Road” and other national development strategies, many companies need more international talents to go global. As a university with more than 2,000 international students, HIT should take the initiative to serve the national strategy, turning more overseas students into “talent dividend” of national strategies.
