On July 5, organized by both Chinese and Russian Ministry of Education, Sino-Russian University President Summit observes its grand opening at Moscow University. Vice Premier Liu Yandong, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets and presidents from more than 200 higher education institutions both in China and Russia have attended the summit to discuss “Sino-Russian Strategic Partnership in Education and Science Education”. HIT Vice President Ren Nanqi is invited to this meeting.
Liu Yandong delivers a speech - “Deepen University Partnership, Create a Beautiful Future Together”- at the opening ceremony, saying that universities are always in the forefront of Sino-Russian cultural exchanges. The formation of unions between Chinese and Russian universities has strengthened the two countries' higher education cooperation in disciplines like engineering, transportation, economy, education, medicine, culture and arts, and promoted higher education exchange between Northeast China and Siberia and Far East of Russia, which is of great and far-reaching significance for China and Russia to increase the international influence and competiveness of higher education. He also points out that higher education institutions from the two countries should take the initiative to keep up with the trend and serve to integrate bilateral strategies; pursue cooperation and mutual learning and promote the sharing of competitive resources; enrich ways of cooperation and enhance the sustainability and stability of cooperation; be open to the youth and boost Sino-Russian friendship to last from generation to generation.
Witnessed by the leaders of China and Russia, HIT, as permanent chairman of Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities (ASRTU), has signed “Strategic Partnership Agreement of Education and Science on Full Implementation of ‘ASTU TECH 2020’ by HIT (PRC) and Federal State Budget Institution of Higher Education BMSTU (Russian Federation)”. Both two sides point out that they will lead the universities in the association to catch the opportunity of strategic integration of “One Belt and One Association”. Centering around the headquarter of ASRTU in Qingdao Blue Silicon Valley, HIT and BMSTU will design collaborative innovation models with global vision and actively integrate education, research and industry to realize the program of “ASRTU TECH 2020” based on quality resources in universities, cooperation between universities and enterprises as well as industrial technology innovation, providing support for the optimization of both Chinese and Russian top talent training models and serving manufacturing strategy implemented in both countries. Mr. Ren attends a session of Sino-Russian University President Summit---“New Global University Ranking and Enhancing the International Competitiveness of Chinese and Russian Universities in the field of Education”, and makes a report with tile of “Elite Universities’ Innovation-Driven Engines-ASRTU TECH 2020”.
During the summit, Mr. Ren also has a talk with Associate Vice President of St. Petersburg State University Gogo Levsky and changes ideas with him on how to strengthen bilateral academic exchange, jointly cultivate high-level talents and promote the project of building HIT-St. Petersburg University. The two sides make a tentative arrangement that the Russian delegation will make a return visit to HIT in September when the unveiling ceremony of St. Petersburg University Office to HIT and Sino-Russian Joint Research Centre of Law will be held, thus pushing bilateral cooperation to new heights.
