Teaching Assistant Training Course Completed and 659 Postgraduates Go on Duty with Certificates

On September 24 to 28, the second phase of the postgraduate teaching assistant training course, organized by the Teaching and Learning Development Center of the Undergraduate School, was officially completed. 659 postgraduates and doctoral students have participated in this training course, and they will go on duty with certificates very soon. They will strictly abide by the standards of Harbin Institute of Technology and inherit the professional spirit of Harbin Institute of Technology in the process of assisting.

The focus of this training are postgraduates and doctoral students who have been employed as a teaching assistants in this term. The training includes both compulsory course and optional courses. We invited Liu Baowei, a teacher from School of Management, and Ding Gang, Vice Office from the Dean of Studies Department to give lectures on effective communication, operation of curriculum sites and other compulsory contents. At the same time, we also invited Fan Jiuming, a teacher from the School of Astronautics, Li Wenxu, a teacher from the School of Chemical Engineering and Chemical Engineering, Huang Furong, a teacher from the School of Foreign Languages and Xu Le, a teacher from the School of Electrical Engineering to carry out optional course training on how to teach experimental courses, how to organize class discussions and how to correct assignments, reports and examination papers, which gives free choice for different teaching assistants selecting courses according to the course they need to assist. It is worth mentioning that, in order to enhance the work direction of graduate teaching assistants and have them assist teachers to carry out MOOC, SPOC and other courses better, the Teaching and Learning Development Center also invited Feng Fei, a teacher from Peking University, to carry out a special training on design and production of open online course and mixed-type teaching model of the Flip classroom.

It is reported that, in order to promote the experience exchange among teaching assistants and help them learn, feel and inherit standards and professional spirit of Harbin Institute of Technology better in teaching assistant work, the Teaching and Learning Development Center will select outstanding teaching assistants to participate the next semesters assistant teaching training after the completion of this semester.
