"How about? Does it fit me?" At 12 noon on October 11, HIT Education Development Foundation showed their concerns for freshmen from economically disadvantaged families by handing out about one thousand down jackets with various styles at the Sunshine Hall of the campus 2. The students who got the clothes were happily trying them on to show the partners whether they fit well.
Although there was the stream of people after class, students on the scene were in order. The freshmen in charge stood in line early. Under the coordination of the instructors, they got the clothes of their own colleges respectively and handed them out for the students one by one in the designated positions. The freshmen held the beloved down jackets with a happy smile on their faces. Several teachers were walking through the crowd. They were Zheng Shixian, the secretary general of HIT education development foundation, Zhao Xiwen, the director of the fundamental department, and Zhang Lujin, the Party branch secretary of the fundamental department. On behalf of the school, they asked the students with concerns whether the clothes fit them and whether the styles are satisfactory. For immediate replacement if it is not suitable.
"I have not experienced the chilly winter in the north. Just soon after entering school, I have heard that our university prepared down jackets for us." said Liu, a freshman from Jiangsu in the College of Computer Science. “Today I tried it on as soon as I received the down jacket. I like it very much and it's very warm. Thank our university for its concern." At the same time, she was determined to study harder and live up to the cultivation and love of our university. Most students said that HIT is the home and here winter is not cold.
It is reported that since 2008 our university has begun to hand out warm clothes for the freshmen from economically disadvantaged families in accordance with the requirements of the Party committee. From 2011, HIT education development foundation purchases about one thousand new down jackets every year. Wang Shuquan, the chairman of HIT education development foundation and Party secretary, is very concerned about the matter. He supervises and urges the work progress every year and personally checks the style and quality of the clothes to ensure that students can receive the winter clothes against cold, which fully embodies the Party committee's concern for students.
