The friendship award of Chinese government in 2016 has been announced to the public. The distinguished professor Okay Kaynak a Foreign Expert Plan of HIT, who is a member of IEEE and professor of the department of electrical and electronic engineering in Strait University in Istanbul, Turkey has won the award. He has become the fourth foreign expert to win the award from HIT.
The friendship award of Chinese government is the highest prize designed for foreign experts who have made significant contributions to Chinese construction modernization . This year, there were 50 foreign experts from 21 countries who won prizes. Li Keqiang, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Premier of the State Council and Zhang Gaoli, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council met the honored experts. Makai, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council presented the award and delivered a speech.
Professor Okay Kaynak has been doing research in the field of intelligent control, advanced motion control, soft computing and mechatronics for many years. His notion of sliding mode control, neural network control and fuzzy control technology has made significant contributions to the development of the theory of automatic control and has important practical value in solving many problems of industrial control systems. He has published more than 300 papers in international journals and conferences with more than 100 papers were included in SCI and 3 works published. Now, the professor Okay Kaynak is granted the chairmanship of the Electromechanical integration of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. He has won many prizes such as Asia - Pacific Rim neurology network leadership award and has been granted many titles such as the chairman of electrical and electronics engineers associations in the United Sates and industrial electronics association.
Since 2003 when professor Okay Kaynak visited HIT for the first time, he has been the part-time doctoral tutor of HIT, chief international academic advisor and the foreign expert of national thousand people plan successively. He is devoted to directing young teachers, cultivating students and promoting international cooperation. He endeavors to make plans for the subjects to push forward its development. He tutors a group of young teachers included in national high-level talents plan, one of whom won the title of national outstanding young teacher, four of which won the title of national excellent young teacher and six of whom are selected as the excellent talents in the new century. He cultivates a group of excellent students, two of whom have won the national excellent doctoral dissertation award, one of whom has won the nomination of national excellent doctoral dissertation award and more than 20 of whom have been recommended to study for a doctor degree in world-famous colleges such as Yale University, UC Berkeley and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He invites groups of international scientists with cutting-edge academic level to visit HIT and promotes cooperation. He has launched and held many important international conferences in HIT and organized academic seminars many times to push forward the international cooperation of HIT.
