On October 20, the awarding ceremony of the HIT Educational Development Foundation for issuing commemorative donation medals and commemorative donation certificates was held in the school. The Chuang Long (Singapore) engineering co., LTD donated 600,000 yuan to the HIT Educational Development Foundation for building the engineering management major in the School of Civil Engineering. Alumni major in the industrial and civil construction of class 86123 donated 100,000 yuan to the HIT Educational Development Foundation for improving retirement work of the School of Civil Engineering. Alumni of the grades 82 and 92 in the industrial and civil construction major and alumni of the grade 2002 in class 5 in civil engineering major donated 30,000 yuan, 30,000 yuan and 10,000 yuan to the HIT Educational Development Foundation respectively for supporting cultural construction for alumni. The foundation chairman and party secretary of HIT Wang Shuquan awarded commemorative medals and commemorative certificates to enterprise representatives and alumni representatives respectively.

On behalf of HIT, the vice chairman of the foundation, vice chairman of the HIT alumni association Cui Guolan signed the donation agreement with donors. The director of the foundation and secretary-general Zheng Shixian hosted the ceremony. Director of the Alumni Affairs Office Lu Changfa announced the awarding decision.

In the ceremony, our alumnus Zhang Jiandong-general manager of the Chuang Long (Singapore) Engineering Co. Ltd, delivered a speech. In the speech, he showed gratitude to his Alma mater for its help over the years and introduced his entrepreneurial journey and entrepreneurial gains. In the meantime, he expected to reward and expressed his gratitude to HIT by donating and giving back and to show his willing to contribute more and greater power in HIT’s way of building itself a world-class university. The chairman of the Hei Longjiang Hai Hong Real Estate Development Co. Ltd and also monitor of the Class 86123 in the industrial and civil construction major Li Chunhai, in his speech, expressed that he hoped to help the Alma mater cultivate more outstanding talents by donating.

On behalf of HIT, Wang Shuquan expressed gratitude to charitable enterprises and alumni for their donation in the ceremony. He provided detailed a introduction on HIT’s current development from the aspect of school characteristics, talent cultivation, scientific research and its contribution to aerospace and defense sectors. He said that this donation highlighted enterprises’ social responsibility and strengthened the profound friendship between alumni and HIT. Moreover, with the link of promoting education by donating, Wang Shuquan showed that there were still many expectations for both enterprises and universities to achieve. Firstly, we hoped to enhance the connection between technology innovation in school, achieved transformation and talent cultivation. Secondly, we expected to form a multi-win situation where we could enhance enterprises’ development, alumni growth and improvement of the school together. Thirdly, we looked forward to encouraging more students to give back to their Alma mater and the society. Finally, we wished to make joint efforts on the realization of the century-old dream of building HIT a world-class university with Chinese characteristics and HIT rules.
