HIT: Two Winners of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and Six Winners of the Natural Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars

Two faculty members of Harbin Institute of Technology are on the list of winners of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars of 2016 which has been published recently. In the meantime, six faculty members have won the Natural Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars supported by the National Natural Science Foundation. The total number of winners is taking the leading position among other Chinese universities.

The winners are as follows: the winners of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars are respectively Prof. Ma Jainwei of School of Science and Prof. Zhu Jiaqi of School of Astronautics; the winners of the Natural Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars supported by the National Natural Science Foundation are six young faculty members, namely Sui Xiehe and Cao Jian of School of Materials Science and Engineering, Liu Yingxiang of School of School of Electrical Engineering and Automation, Wang Yong of School of Electronics and Information Engineering, Wang Yulei of School of Astronautics, and Guo Xitong of School of Management.

Over the past five years, 16 faculty members of HIT have won the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars with the total number ranking ninth in Chinese universities; 34 faculty members of HIT have won the Natural Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars supported by the National Natural Science Foundation with the total number ranking 10th in Chinese universities.

According to our research, HIT has formulated the Plan of Cultivation of Outstanding Talents in the Basic Research with the privilege in the policy, fund and management in order to grow a strong team of outstanding talents in basic research fields.
