Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information released the list of 2016 key laboratories. The laboratories of “advanced structural and functional composite material and green manufacturing technology”, “theories and techniques in micro-nano photoelectric information system” and “marine monitoring and information processing” in HIT were selected by the Ministry of Industry and Information as key laboratories.

The laboratory of advanced structural and functional composite material and green manufacturing technology” is supported by the School of Material in HIT and Shenzhen District. The laboratory is oriented towards high technology and frontier technology and keeps up with the international frontal in the development of materials and the needs of national major strategic needs; the objective of the laboratory is to improve innovation ability and to obtain proprietary intellectual property rights; The task of the laboratory is to construct a team of talents with highly-competent and high-quality professionals and elites with international and innovative sights. The laboratory has an interdisciplinarity research method, develops advanced ceramic matrix, light metal matrix and resin matrix composite materials of integrated structures and function, as well as the application and foundation research and talent cultivation in advanced surface coating and modification, low dimensional nano-materials and devices to settle issues that has China met in the process of being a strong manufacturing country to becoming a manufacturing power, in which the problems are: key basis material, fundamental technology and functional components and parts. The laboratory can contribute a lot to the establishment and development of an innovative country.

The laboratory of theories and techniques in micro-nano photoelectric information system is supported by optics as a national keystone discipline. It keeps up with the international frontier in micro-nano optics and national major strategic needs, takes serving the upgrade of national opto-electronic information industry and national construction as its central task. The laboratory has conducted research in new mechanisms and new effects on light-matter interaction on the micro-nano scale, developed new techniques in synthesis and preparation of micro-nano optical and functional materials. In addition, they have also researched and developed new types of  functional devices with micro-nano & opto-electronical information, explored the application of information photonics in micro-nano photonics integration, high-speed data-communication and data processing, information detection, clean energy and biomedical optics, etc. According to the development tendency in the international micro-nano electro-optical information field, and integrating the strategic needs of national long-term development planning, the laboratory, under the support of HIT and Shenzhen District, has constantly strengthens and improves disciplinary planning and extracted research direction, which has gained a series of high-level scientific achievements.

The laboratory of marine monitoring and information processing is supported by the first-level discipline of Information and Communication Engineering and electronics engineering technology institute, which has taken part in several national major scientific projects. The laboratory opened up a field of new radar system in China, which has gained multiple internal and external scientific achievements and won the first-class prize in two items of national prize for progress in science and technology, as well as the second-class prize in one item of the national prize. Under the leading of major task in national science and technology, the laboratory will focus on marine monitoring, ocean development and marine security and other national strategic needs. The laboratory integrated with other disciplines’ advantages in the following aspects, which are: theories and techniques in the information acquisition of marine monitoring, signal and information processing techniques in marine monitoring, offshore information transmission technology, and will develop innovative research and speed up the conversion of achievements. Researchers in the laboratory will contribute more to the establishment of a scientific study base and talent cultivation center in marine monitoring, and devote itself to the strategy of constructing a powerful maritime country.
