HIT Hosts the Urban Water Science Forum and the China Engineering Science and Technology Forum

The Urban Water Science Forum and the 239th China Engineering Science and Technology Forum were co-hosted by HIT, the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the International Water Association (IWA) in Beijing recently. Liu Xu, vice president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Ren Nanqi, vice president of HIT attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.

During the forum, about 200 scholars from home and abroad developed in-depth discussions on the following themes: "Wastewater Treatment Standards, Sponge City and Alternative Water Resources", "Drinking Water Supply and Disinfection", "Urban Water Environment and Aquatic Ecosystem", "Chemical, Biological and Ecological Water Treatment Integration Methods "," waste water recycling ", etc.. Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering: Qian Yi, Zhang Jie, Ren Nanqi, Peng Yongzhen, Yuan Zhiguo and five foreign academicians from the United States, Germany and other countries were invited to give general assembly reports. Professor Feng Yujie, Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory of Urban Water Resources and Water Environment, served as the executive chairman of the conference.

The "Urban Water Science Forum" is a series of international academic conferences sponsored by the State Key Laboratory of Urban Water Resources and Water Environment. It was twice held in Harbin in 2011 and 2014 respectively. This year, the forum was held in other cities for the first time. The theme of this forum is "Drainage Standards" and "Sustainable Development of Urban Water Resources", which focuses on the water environment in the process of China’s urbanization, aiming at building a sound environment for urban water environment development.
