IEEE published the 2017 New Elected Fellow list. Professor Xu Dianguo, Duan Guangren and Zhang Lixian were elected for their contributions to power electrics and electric drives, control system design and application, and switched system control.
Xu Dianguo, from the school of Electrical Engineering and Automation, is the young and middle-aged expert of the State Commission of Science and Technology for National Defense with outstanding contributions, the winner of Hei Longjiang province Fund for Outstanding Young Scholars, one of the Top Ten Outstanding Persons of Hei Longjiang province, and winner of the “May Fourth” Youth Medal. He chairs many research projects awarded by the province and the country. He enjoys a special government allowance. Duan Guangren, from the school of Astronautics, is a winner of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. He is a Cheungkong Scholar Chair Professor. He was awarded one of the 4th Science and Technology Awards for Chinese Youth. He was elected Trans-Century Program Foundation for Talents from the Ministry of Education of China. His team was elected the innovative team of the Ministry of Education of China and the creative group of National Science Fund Commission. Zhang Lixian, from the School of Astronautics, is a winner of the National Science Fund for Outstanding Young Scholars. He was elected the Organization Department of the CPC Young Talent Hiring Plan and the New Century Talent Plan. He is Thomson Reuters global Highly cited scholar, and Elsevier China highly cited scholar.
It is known that HIT attaches great importance to academic international influence, through measures to lead HIT toward to the international stage. In 2007, the branch of IEEE was established in HIT in charge of activities of northeast of China. In 2016, the first female IEEE was established in HIT. At the same time, HIT set up funds for academic exchange, and make rules on exchange and funds, encouraging and supporting activities held by teachers, and undertaking international conference and visiting abroad. HIT has set up centers and builds platform on exchanges with other universities and World 500 companies, achieving great progress.
Now, IEEE is the most famous and the biggest transnational academic organization on electrical and electronic engineering technology. It is also the biggest transnational professional academy, which has 39 major branches and 0.4million members in 160 countries and regions. IEEE Fellow is the highest honor for members, which is selected every year with a number no more than one thousandth of all members.
