To implement the cooperation agreement between HIT and the Jinxiu county government in Guangxi province and to deepen and specify the science and technology work, as one of the five helping and supporting projects in HIT, a delegation conducted an investigation in Jinxiu Yao autonomous county, a fixed-point supporting district of HIT, which includes 7 experts from Institute of Aerospace Science and Industry, School of Mechatronics Engineering, School of Electrical Engineering and Automation, School of Chemical Engineering and Technology, School of Computer Science and Technology and School of Transportation Science and Engineering.
The delegation went to the main industrial enterprises in Jinxiu County to conduct on-the-spot investigations, visiting Dongda Sugar Refining Limited Liability Company, Shengtang Pharmacy Limited Liability Company and Jinrui Wood Limited Liability Company.
During the investigation of Yao Medicine related companies, it became known to the delegation that Jinxiu County is an important residential area of the Yao nationality, and Yao medicine has a wide influence here. Yao medicine is rich in resources, but the current processing, marketing and other aspects of the Yao medicine are still relatively weak lacking scientific validity, systematization and normality. It is urgent to carry out systematic categorization of Yao national heritage. Concerning the species’ technology upgrading, medical material’s efficient exaction, multilevel utilization, health care products’ dosage form reform and sales network’ expanding of Yao medicine, the delegation made in-depth exchanges and put forward practical recommendations on health care projects from the aspects of the effective extraction of ingredients, sewage treatment and equipment automation. Besides, the needs of some enterprises, experts of our school gave specific guidance.
Lu Weihong, Professor of the School of Chemical Engineering and Technology, was one of the experts who participated in this investigation. He said that Dayaoshan, located in Jinxiu county, was a natural species gene pool with natural medicinal and edible plant resources of wide range and unique functions. However, for the use of such special ingredients with medicine and food, it’s still in its original stage of simply selling raw materials or primary products. The added value of products is relatively low. Therefore, it’s badly in need of carrying out scientific system analysis and deep processing product development. At present, Lu’s group is conducting ingredient detection of the local products such as red glutinous rice, camellia oil and Liuxiang ginger, which will provide scientific data support to local products’ further development in Jinxiu county. It’s also suggested to make an ingredient comparison of brown sugar refined by ancient ways in Guangxi and brown sugar refined by machines. At the same time, the promotion needs to be enhanced to improve the market competitiveness.
In Jinxiu county, the industrial base is weak, the number of industrial enterprises is small and most of them use hand-made mode of production. To remedy this situation, experts of School of Mechatronics Engineering and School of Electrical Engineering and Automation raised some suggestions and planned to cooperate on resin products’ automatic handling, woodworks’ automatic carrying and Yao medicine’s automatic packaging.
As a typical mountainous area, the mountain roads are easily affected by rainfall, landslides and other natural disasters. Ma Songlin, Professor of School of Transportation Science and Engineering, investigated the subgrade subsidence and landslide road sections in 341 Luoxiang Road. He discussed with the county transportation department on the feasibility of the submerging subgrade’s site treatment technology and the possibility of applying new highway engineering technology in Jinxiu region. The relevant departments hoped that our school would consider Jinxiu county as a transportation technology project test base and promote the application of disaster prevention and reduction technology in mountain roads.
The delegation also visited the Sanjiang township which was contacted by Li Dong during his poverty alleviating work and Sanyou village where Li Feng serves as the first secretary. Li Dong is the deputy magistrate of Jinxiu county who takes a temporary post in our school. Through the visits, the delegation knew the progress and periodical success of the local poverty alleviation work and exchanged views on feasible areas and feasible modes of carrying out scientific and technological poverty alleviation work with every specific village.
Before the delegation's departure, the staff of the Institute of Aerospace Science and Industry made a donation to the poverty-stricken households in Sanjiang township, Jinxiu county and the money was transferred to the local government during the investigation. At present, the delegation is conducting targeted research on the collected information and will further arrange the information to form specific plans to provide continued support to the development of Jinxiu county.
