In the afternoon, the president Zhou Yu, the deputy secretary of the party committee and vice president Zhang Hongtao, vice president Anshi, Xu Dianguo came to the affairs general duty room, college hospital, security office, substation, and property management center to thank those who still stick to the position and their families and bless them a happy new year. College leaders learned about the work arrangements of relevant departments during the winter holiday, and encouraged all staff to abide by their duties in close cooperation, and effectively put the security implemented to ensure the whole faculty and students a peaceful and pleasant Spring Festival.

Talking about the cultivation of scientific research ability, he said that HIT has always attached importance to the practice of teaching and the training on student innovation ability, committed to transfer the rich scientific research resources and strong scientific research strength into personnel training resources, and works hard to build great environment and practice platform for the students. He hoped that students can learn the knowledge of the subject as soon as possible, the relevant subject seminar and the scientific direction of research combined with their own interests and expertise so that to catch the college’s research express to enhance their own sense of innovation and the ability based on the resources. Speaking of engineering practice and theoretical research, he said that everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses, so we need to develop our strong points and avoid our weakness. We could find out what we are good at and what our expertise is. Then with the perseverance to do so, we should make it perfect, so the best is the best. Whether it is engineering practice or theoretical research, they are both what our country needs. HITers generally command the solid theory foundation, strong engineering practice. We’re earnest and down-to-earth, innovative and realistic, entrepreneurial and pragmatic. These are our advantages and characteristics. In the face of great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, the "Chinese Dream", in the face of opportunities of the construction of aerospace power, manufactures, and the revitalization of the northeast old industrial base, our advantages fit the national strategic needs greatly, which demand each of us taking the opportunity of time and be initiative to make their own contribution to the country and the people.
After visiting and discussion, the college leaders and the head of the relevant departments came to the third floor of Xue Yuan cafeteria and gathered together with faculty and students to share the dinner on New Year's Eve and celebrate the Spring Festival. President Zhou Yu shared the New Year greetings and sincere wishes on behalf of the leadership and wished all a happy New Year. Staying students have said that the care and love made them feel the warmth. They expressed that they will continue to study hard and make more efforts to thank for the cultivation and parental care of HIT, and what’s more to make contribution for the HIT’s objective to create a world-class university and the Chinese dream to achieve the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
It is reported that there are a total of 543 students staying in school during the Spring Festival, including 388 foreign students. For the sake of the feel of being homes, the school provided rich dinner on New Year's Eve and the family meal from first to the third of the Lunar January free, so that they could spend a happy and peaceful Spring Festival.
